Nokia, BT and MediaTek partner on RedCap trials

Nokia, BT, and MediaTek have successfully concluded trials of 5G Reduced Capability (RedCap) technology. The trials, conducted at BT Group’s Adastral Park site, are a step forward in simplifying and advancing connectivity for IoT devices.

RedCap was introduced in 3GPP Release 17 and addresses a critical challenge faced by IoT devices – the complexity and power consumption of current 5G devices.

Marine-focused connected testbed launches in Plymouth

A testbed called Smart Sound Connect has been launched in Plymouth for companies to conduct marine research up to 20 miles offshore.

The testbed is a world-first and uses a private 4G/5G network by Vodafone and Nokia for connectivity across the coastal proving grounds.

Nokia helps Volkswagen embrace Industry 4.0 digital transformation

Nokia is deploying a private 5G network for Volkswagen at the carmaker’s main plant in Wolfsburg, Germany to help the company embrace Industry 4.0 digital transformation.
